An Interview with Top notch Comedian Godwin Ondoma a.k.a Funny Gee by Aigbe Gloria
Can we meet you?
My name is Godwin Ondoma.
I am from a family of four (6) and the second of four (4) children. My dad is a lawyer and my mum is a teacher/ business woman.
I attended children academy Jos, Abbah memorial college Jos and university of Jos. I have a B.sc in psychology.
How did u get your start in comedy?
I started comedy by being in a drama group in church back in the day. I always preferred acting out funny roles. I guess that’s how comedy found me.
How did u come about your stage name?
The name Funny Gee originated from my name, Godwin. A lot of people tell me am funny so I took funny and added it to the G in Godwin and “Funny Gee” came into existence.
Who would you say are your influences in comedy?
Aries Spears, Micheal Jr Comedy, Bovi, Klint da Drunk, Chris Rock, Cassie Davies, and Trevor Noir.
How long have you into comedy?
I have been doing stand up comedy since 2007
Do you write your own routine?
Yes I write my own routine
What would you be doing if you weren’t a comedian?
I would most likely be doing comic movies and dance

Where do you see yourself in the next ten years?
I see myself as a force to be reckoned with in the comedy industry Nigeria and the world at large. I can envisage working with the likes of Tyler Perry, Kelvin Hart, Comedy central, and Hollywood
What are you working on right now?
I am currently working on a show with classic tagged cool vibes with Funny Gee and classic. Its promises to be one of the biggest comedy shows on the plateau and just about the biggest show so far organized and hosted by Funny Gee Entertainment. We are going to have the likes of Sam and Sung from Abuja, Efe and Dr Seth, Mc Jay from kano. Its comedy like no one has seen before. The show is going to be endowed with great contents, untold jokes, great music, and awesome performances.
What do you do to blow off steam?
Dancing and having a good time with close friends.
Most embarrassing moment
That would be when the mic got snatched from me by a drunk on stage.
Moments and times spent together with my late boss, Mc Longs of blessed memory.
What is your idea of a perfect date?
Dinner on a Yacht
Message to upcoming comedians
Be resilient; believe in yourself, and your acts. The more you create your own jokes, the longer you remain in the industry and be more relevant.
